  • Variation is due to common causes or assignable causes

Common Causes

  • This is called in a state of “Statistical Control”
  • This refers to the many sources of variation within a process that has a stable and repeatable distribution overtime

Assignable Causes

  • This refers to any factors causing variation that or not always acting on the process
  • This is need to be detected and removed.
